Sunday Morning Worship
- What time should I arrive?
The worship service begins at 10:30 am. The doors open at 10 am. If you happen to arrive late, that is absolutely no problem. You are welcome to join us at any point during the service. - What is the worship style like?
We practice a liturgical, covenant renewal worship. We sing all kinds of songs - hymns, Psalms, and spiritual songs. We vary in our use of instruments: sometimes using a piano, guitar, organ, or flute. Worship is not about us, but about God. It's not about our "experience," but about giving God glory. We seek to parallel the Gospel with our worship: God calls us into his presence. Being sinners in need of cleansing, we confess our sins to God, and he is faithful and just to forgive us. We grow in holiness as we are taught God's word through preaching and teaching. We then celebrate communion as we have close fellowship with the Lord and each other. We then are sent out with a blessing and commission to go into the world to make disciples and to shine the light brightly for Christ's kingdom and honor. - How should I dress?
Come as you are. Dress style is casual. - What should I do when I arrive?
Bulletins are located on the right-hand wall just before entering the sanctuary. The bulletin is our guide through the service and contains prayers, verbal responses we all say together, and scripture readings. Song lyrics will be up on the screen on the front left of the sanctuary during the service. What about my children? Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matthew 19:14) Children of all ages are welcome at the worship service. It is good for children to hear the message and observe and participate in worship. It's amazing what they hear and understand! - What if my child gets fussy?
We don’t mind a little noise. If the volume increases and you think it best, you may choose to bring your child next door to the nursery. The nursery is staffed and you may choose to have your child 5 years of age or less remain in the nursery during the service. - How do I give tithes or offerings?
There is a box in the foyer where you can place your cash or check offering. Checks may be written to Princeville Presbyterian Church. There is an online giving option as well on our website. The offering is used to support various ministries to our local community and missions abroad, as well as the operation of the church. - How often do you celebrate the Lord’s Supper (also called Communion)?
We celebrate the Lord's Supper every Sunday worship service. - What is the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper?
At his last meal with his disciples, Jesus shared bread and wine with them and asked them to continue to do so in remembrance of him. The Lord’s Supper, therefore, is a sacrament — a visible representation of an invisible reality — which was instituted by our Lord himself for our blessing and benefit. It is the covenant renewal meal of the faithful. By eating the bread and drinking the cup, followers of Jesus proclaim their faith in him anew, remembering his death, celebrating his life and reign, and acknowledging the new life and new community which Jesus’ sacrifice has purchased for sinners like us. - May I receive Communion?
You do not need to be a member of Princeville Presbyterian Church to join us in the Lord's Supper. However, you must be properly baptized and not under church discipline. Children who have been baptized may also partake in the Lord's Supper. If you or some children in your family would like to receive communion, but have not been baptized, please refrain from participating, but please contact one of the elders to discuss receiving baptism. - What if I need counseling, baptism, or need help understanding how to become a Christian and to trust Jesus as my Lord and Savior?
Contact one of the elders and they will speak and pray with you any time. You can call or text 309-385-4402 or email office@princevillepc.org.
We look forward to seeing you this Sunday. Welcome!
